The Summerhouse Cat

Not far from here is an old farmhouse that sits facing the dirt road. It belongs to a family who lives out of state and only visits occasionally as a get-away place. The house stands alone and empty for most of the year. I have taken hundreds of photos of the yard, trees and barns in every season. Several nice paintings have come from these images.

A few days ago, when driving past the house, I was struck how the Virginia creeper was making a lovely design as it slowly took over the front door. While photographing it from inside the truck, the orange tabby cat ran up the walkway and across the porch. I managed to snap a photo just as he paused for a quick glance around.

I like this image very much.
